Flight School Explanations

There are two different types of flight schools out there. They are known as Part 61 Flight Schools and Part 141 Flight schools.

All this means is that each is governed by a different section of the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations ( FAR's )

Most of the General Aviation Operations at your local airport are Part 61. Most of the Bigger international flight schools are Part 141.

Depending on your needs you will choose one of these types of Flight School. As far as the regulations are concerned, all of the pilot certifications fall under part 61, the section of the Federal Aviation Regulations that govern Pilots.
